After the eye-fixing operation of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Tibet attracts tourists from home and abroad with her unique natural and human scenes. Organized by the China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture (CAPDTC) and the Foreign Cultural Exchange Association of Tibet Autonomous Region, 2006 China Tibetan Culture Week will be held from October 18 to 29 in Austria. It will exhibits a complete Tibet through the Thangka and photography exhibition, Tibetan singing and dancing performance and living Buddhas and Tibetologists delegation,
The festival will include an exhibition of more than 200 photos selected from 150,000 pictures by 100 photographers from 19 countries. They were invited to take photos in Tibet last year. Helmut Strohmer, a well-known Austrian photographer, is also expected to display 50 works, showing impressions of modern life in Tibet. All of these photos record politics, economy, culture, society and Tibetans' life from different aspects of today's Tibet.
Fifteen Thangka paintings cover wide ranges on Tibetan religion, Tibetan medicine and Tibetan nation's history.
A Tibetan singing and dancing drama "Wunderbar Home" is presented by the Qamdo Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe. The troupe has visited many countries in 1990s and won many prizes nationwide. The drama "Wunderbar Home" has won applause in Italy, Denmark and Korea.
Four living Buddhas and Tibetologists who are good at Tibetan Buddhist and Tibetology will give lectures at universities and meet with Austrian Tibetologists to tell the stories of Tibetan Buddhism and Tibet.
Austrian people can feel the art and culture charm through this 2006 China Tibetan Culture Week closely as well as improve the understanding and friendship with Chinese people.
